"The Unexpected"

I spent Christmas 2010 in France, Paris actually. My oldest daughter was finishing up her semester of studying abroad. One of my dreams has been to visit Paris with my children and I felt this was the best, if not possibly the last, opportunity to make it happen. The City of Light is a special place for me as it is where my parents met and were married. My mother grew up in Paris and my father was stationed there for the army. Looking at the pictures of us smiling in front of the Eiffel Tower empowered me to make another one of my dreams come true, completing my masters degree.
After a 10 year break to care for those little things in life, I re-enrolled at Eastern Michigan University. I have completed my course work and am currently working on my thesis. The end is in sight. It has been all consuming (hence the absence of posts) and exhilarating! I have to say that it was bit unexpected, but not so much as what I did last Saturday night.
Once a month in Ann Arbor a new event gathers entrepreneurs to network and support. I am proud to say I know one of the creators of "Entre-Slam" and I happily support the events by being the "greeter at the door". Last Saturday one of the scheduled storytellers was a no-show and, unexpectedly, I took her place. I decided to tell the story of one of the reasons why I do what I do as a Learning Coach. The theme of the night was "The Unexpected" and it was.
